New Product Announcements (1/22/09)

Spiropyrans and related reversible Photochromic and Thermochromic Compounds

Spectra Group Limited is proud to announce that we now offer a large selection of compounds that can be generalized as Spiropyrans. This is one of the largest classes of photochromic and thermochromic compounds. Our catalogue covers a large variety of parent ring systems containing various cycles and heteroatoms as well as a great variety of substitutions on the parent rings.

Spiropyran is broadly defined as a molecule containing a 2H pyran ring in which the number-2 carbon atom is involved in a spiro type linkage. Heterolytic cleavage of the 1,2 single bond is responsible for photochromic and/or thermochromic activity of such compounds. Compounds in our catalogue all belong to the class of spiropyrans and related compounds. Their photochromic or thermochromic activity varies greatly depending on the structure of the cycle and its substituents. For more details about these photochromic / thermochromic products --contact us by phone (419) 837-9783, fax (419) 837-6816 or email.

H-Nu-IR Photoinitiators -- 700 - 850 nm infrared absorbance

Spectra Group Limited is proud to announce two new IR (infrared) photoinitiators with absorbance in the 700-850 nm range. H-Nu-IR 780 and 815 have excellent solubility in a variety of acrylate monomers and exhibit strong bleaching leading to a final polymer with little or no color. They cure via a free-radical mechanism and do not require an amine coinitiator. Cure using infrared sources or cure through IR filtering substrates is possible. Ask us about the newest IR/Infrared additions to the H-Nu family of photoinitiators --contact us by phone (419) 837-9783, fax (419) 837-6816 or email.

H-Nu-Blue Visible Light Photoinitiators -- 575-700nm absorbance

Spectra Group Limited is proud to announce two new photoinitiators with absorbance in the 575-700 nm range. H-Nu-Blue 640 and 660 have excellent solubility in a variety of acrylate monomers and exhibit strong bleaching leading to a final polymer with little or no color. They cure via a free-radical mechanism and do not require an amine coinitiator. Cure using red lasers or cure through red colored substrates is possible. Ask us about the newest additions to the H-Nu family of photoinitiators --contact us by phone (419) 837-9783, fax (419) 837-6816 or email.
